1. Children with autism have a harder time interacting with other children. Children with autism can have “great difficulty answering simple questions about topics such as what he likes to do,” (Fabes and Martin, 2009, p. 396). This can make it hard for them to connect with other children.

2b. Autism can affect a child’s language development. Children with autism may have an “impaired ability to initiate or sustain a conversation with others,” (Fabes and Martin, 2009, p. 397). This can make it difficult for the child to maintain conversations and to make friends with other children.
