Assessment of client and his/her family is an important stage in the helping process for a social worker.

There are many influences which can contribute to a problem for a client and his/her family, especially ENVIRONMENTAL influences.

Below, you will find a list of common problems which are faced by social work clients and their families.

How will you as their social worker perform an assessment of your clients.

Use only two theories: 

-Systems Theory.

-GERMAIN and GITTERMAN’S Ecological Perspective.

and their important concepts when performing an assessment on the clients and their families with the problems found below. (Two theories for each problem).

The common problems which you need to assess using the two theories are:

A)Marital discord between husband and wife.

B)A communication and relationship problem between TWO individuals in a family:

You need to write about 1) Husband and wife. 2) A parent and child. 3) Between two children.

C)A child’s negative behavior:

You need to write about him/her in 1) School. 2) At home.

As there is no specific case study with a detailed story, you will need to give your own examples to support your answers.
