Hello everyone, my name is Roger, I am currently pursuing a B.S in Occupational Safety and Health. I am currently the Corporate Safety Director for a mechanical company. Also, I recently obtained my CHST and would like to obtain my CSP next. I want to continue learning about safety as I really enjoy what I do. 

I think that employers should use PELs because as mentioned these exposure limits to hazardous materials are LEGALLY enforceable. I personally have worked with asbestos and lead abatement and an industrial hygienist ensures workers are not violating PELs by conducting air sampling and personal air sampling. Furthermore, from my experience the IH ensures containments for abatement and other tests are properly constructed and conducted to ensure the workers and public are not exposed during abatement procedures. The IH also conducts sampling after the abatement is complete and based on samples it is deemed complete. The Permissible Exposure Limits that are legally enforceable are what should be used for measuring hazardous materials exposure.
