National HUMINT (the type that is conducted by CIA and DIA) uses a variety of tools and techniques to gather intelligence. Commercial HUMINT (conducted to support business intelligence, aka competitive intelligence) is more restricted in its choice of tools. Suppose you are the chief of business intelligence for a large multinational corporation (such as IBM, DuPont, Ford, Merck, or Proctor & Gamble). What HUMINT techniques would you be willing to use? What additional collection techniques would you use if absolutely sure that they would never be discovered? What techniques would you NOT use under any conditions?
